LYDIA BOAMPONG & Dr. YAW OWUSU Jr.
Are Getting Married
HER STORY
I first saw Yaw at the 2015 youth camp in Philadelphia. I had seen him around a couple times during the week with his friends and thought he was pretty attractive but we never spoke to each other. After the evening program on Saturday, I was sitting with one of my friends in the auditorium when one of his friends approached us and started talking to me. After a few minutes of conversation with him, I looked around and saw Yaw standing there looking at me. I figured he was giving his friend moral support as he talked to me. Soon after the conversation with his friend ended, I joined my friends who were dancing. We danced and socialized for a while and got ready to leave. As we walked out the door, I saw Yaw standing there. I smiled at him and began walking past him. He stopped me and asked if he could have my number so we could be friends. I gave him my number and went on with my night. He texted me that night so I would have his number as well. I saw Yaw again Sunday morning before we left camp but we didn’t speak to each other. Yaw texted me from time to time after youth camp. At first, I wasn’t feeling it. I figured he had probably gotten other people’s numbers so I wasn’t really making an effort in talking to him. However, As time went on, we began talking more frequently and started getting to know each other better. Not long after, Yaw expressed his interest in me. I appreciated it but didn’t want to rush into anything just yet. This didn’t deter him. He continued to call and text me daily claiming he would “wear me down”. We continued talking and praying together. It was during this time that I realized what a man Yaw is.. my true Boaz. So, when he asked me to be his girlfriend, I said yes and we began dating. Being that I was in California for school, it was difficult to see each other. However, whenever I came back to Connecticut for vacations, Yaw would drive from New York to take me out and spend time with me. When he moved to Texas, he would visit me at school.
At my graduation On June 17, 2018, Yaw surprised me with my dream proposal. Surrounded by all my friends and loved ones, Yaw asked to spend forever with me! I thank God everyday for giving me such a God fearing, selfless, caring, goofy and loving man. He indeed wore me down. I couldn’t have prayed for a better life partner.

Our story
I met Lydia in 2015 at youth camp. At the camp one of the guys I was acquainted with, told me about this girl he had seen. I did not think much of it because there were a lot of girls at YC. On a Friday night worship service, we were sitting in church and he pointed out the girl, who happened to be Ms.LYDIA BOAAAAMPPPONGGGG. I still remember where she was sitting with her friends. A row behind me and on the far-left side of the church. When I saw her, I was enamored, I had to take a second quick look back to see if what I saw was real. During my second take it seemed that she was looking at my direction, I was like wowwwww, this girl is FINEEEEEE. I told the guys I was with that I had to get her number. Youth camp was going to end on Sunday and usually on Sunday everyone is busy trying to leave, so I knew Saturday was basically my last chance to get her number. I did not see her most of the day on Saturday until the evening program. I decided that I would get her number after the service. After the service ended, I went and stood by the door of the worship center so that I could get her number when she was walking out. The service ended and I posted up by the door, it seems that she and her friends had different plans, they decided to stay inside and dance. It felt like they were dancing for like 30hrs to me. But I had already taken my mind (na ma fa maa dwene dada). Eventually, they started to slowly come out and I prayed and asked God that if she was the one, she would look in my direction. When she came out the door wooooo my knees became weak and palms started to get a little sweaty. She looked at my direction and smiled (Yup, she wanted me,lol), it was show time. I spit a little game, she smiled and gave me her number. Slooowwwly we started to talk, initially I thought this girl was playing hard to get (a brother didn’t have time for that, lol) but with age I had grown patient. As she would say “I am not playing hard to get, I am hard to get”, she sure was! I quickly knew that she was the person I wanted to spend forever with. In 2018 I started to plan out proposing to her, I told her that I wanted to go to Ghana in June to take care of some things and if she would be fine with me missing her graduation. I knew she would front and say, “if that’s what I wanted to do”, surely, she said that. I had a friend design a fake Ghana ticket and showed it to her while her friends and I planned out the proposal. After getting the approval from her family, on June 17, 2018 I proposed at her graduation and she said “YES”!! Now on June 2, 2019 I get to marry not just my fiancé, but my best friend, my ride or die, the fairest among billions, my obaapa Nyamekye (Good girl, God has given) Lydia!
